Two-Thousand Nine

Happy New Year!

My husband, Spencer, and I had a wonderful little winter break. We spent most of the time in our town, enjoying the brisk air, holiday shopping, and time with family.

This year was spent different that the other prior years. We usually plan a vacation out of town for the week before Christmas. Our favorite so far has been exploring Rome and last year we stayed in the States and enjoyed seeing our national parks, including Joshua Tree and the Grand Canyon. This has always been fun because not only do we get to travel, which we love doing, but we would come home with presents from other parts of the world.

So, you can imagine my surprise when Spencer gave me a very last present in a shiny silver envelope and enclosed was a trip to Las Vegas for New Years. Not only did we go to Vegas, we stayed at Encore, the newest hotel in Vegas, and it was gorgeous! The decor was bright and filled with butterflies, dragonflies, and huge red chandeliers. Spencer and I are not much of the gambling type, but we did have fun walking through all the hotels and shops. And celebrating the countdown on the streets of Vegas, this was a “do-it at least once in your lifetime” moment, so we did! We were all decked-out in Mardi Gras beads and my new years tiara. We saw Robbie Knievel jump the fiery ”lava” at the Mirage and the fireworks from Treasure Island.

Now we can check that off of our “once in a lifetime” list. ;)

So, what do you hope the New Year brings for you? Peace, success, a new and brighter future? Whatever it is, I wish you the best, and if I haven’t said it to you before, Thank You for making my Two-Thousand Eight a great year in photography!
