This image was taken recently at a family portrait up in Hidden Valley Lake, California. The family wore white and the girls were just too cute in there summer dresses. I had to capture all of them sitting with their bare feet hanging. I never posed any of the girls, I just told them the area to sit in and to cross their ankles. I love this image because it truly captures a moment in time - recording the different sizes of feet, the rings they wore, the way they crossed there ankles, and how naturally beautiful they are as sisters.

In other news, my husband and I just got back from a weeklong family vacation near Trinity Alps. It has become tradition to spend some time up there around July Fourth. I particularly like it because we get to relax in a small town, which is more like home, where the firework shows are free, the theater still uses real butter, and we can boat on the lake all day!

What made this trip to Trinity special is that we hiked up to Tangle Blue, which we have never been able to do. All in all, we hiked six miles and rose over 1,200 feet in elevation. Most of the images I took were with my “ancient” 1950’s Alfa camera. We’ll have to wait till the film is developed before I can share any golden nuggets.
We had a great time and are glad to have had time for a little retreat!
