The Remodel Project

Friday, March 6th, 2009

After nearly two-weeks of a dormant phase a la blog, I am back!

And with a better studio than ever!

Some pictures to prove that I have been working my little fingers … and breaking some jig-saw blades along the way:

[nearly the start of the project: the carpet was ripped out and the start of putting in the flooring]

[before and after and the most awesome faux brick wall! ]

[I am so proud of this little window]

[i love the little iron star detail]

[now only two amps!]

I really have to thank my husband for saying “yes” to the project. For us this room symbolizes a “horse of a different color” … before this project one day it would be a rockin’ studio for his music school (the great burro studios) and other days all of music equipment would hid behind long flowing curtains and voila (!) it would become a photography studio.

However, since the beginning of the year I’ve been visualizing what I would like my studio to look like and how it would function. After collecting ideas it was overly apparent that I really wanted hardwood floors and brick. I really loved how brick and wood looked in portraits. More than anything I wanted a place in which I could photograph against anything and not be limited by the number of different canvases I had.

My wish (one of them at least - the year is still young!) has come true.

Also, much graditude to my handy parents who helped with drywall, flooring, and lending me all the cool tools. To Mekaela, who proved she is more than just a good assistant and friend, she can also paint a darn good yellow wall!

I’m also very excited because I was lucky enough to photograph two sessions last Saturday using the new room, so those I will be sharing soon!

Also, keep your eyes open for an invitational open house day!

my new orange buddy

Every morning on my way to the studio I stop downtown to go to the Sebastopol Cookie Company to get my favorite morning coffee. (As a side note, over the years my favorite coffee has gone from a simple “coffee with cream and sugar” to a “double shot soy latte with extra foam” and some days I add chocolate sprinkles on top. Yum!) Each morning I see the travel mugs they have on display, with the handwritten note “$12.95 and the first coffee is free!” However, after my morning stop I always realize that I forgot to buy the travel mug. Ahh!

So, again this morning the bright colored travel mugs were on display as they always are every morning with the cute handwritten sign. This time I finally took a step back and said, “I’d like to get a travel mug - in orange.”

Here’s my newest addition to my desk:

{such a cutie-pie!}

I have to say I’m particle to these three cute kids - they happen to be my little nieces and nephew. And besides capturing their fall photographs, these pictures have also been submitted for modeling work. After seeing these pictures I don’t know who will not say “yes!” They each have such personalities and I think it really shows in these pictures.

And lets not forget about my sister-in-law, Colette, she’s the mother of these beautiful babies. We took some time after photographing the kids and had a little grown up fun!

PS: Colette an amazing hair stylist and happens to be a lot of fun too! We like to team up together and do fun photo-sessions with just the girls. If you’re interested, just send me an email through my website or give me a call. It’s always nice to be pampered! :)

Cuties

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

This morning in the studio I photographed three super cuties! We had fun - the girls told secrets and made funny faces, and then there was George - always on the move! Thank you Keri for letting me photograph your kids! Here’s some favorites:

My new website is officially launched!

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Hello Friends!

I’m very excited to announce that my newly designed website is now online! It even has that fresh new baby smell. ;)

So come visit me to see a whole new portfolio of weddings and portraits from families, senior, babies, and even our furry friends.

Lastly, any project on this scale could not have been completed without the help from my web designer Alex Wayne at Beautiful Pixel. THANK YOU Alex!

From,

Norah
