Derek and I ventured to Railroad Square in Santa Rosa, which also happened to be where I photographed his siblings a few years ago. It really is a perfect spot for “boy” portraits with all the stone and brick backgrounds and not to mention the beautiful colors the sunset provides along those railroad tracks. What I loved most about Derek’s session is the variety of glasses he brought - just like girls bring shoes, Derek brought glasses.

This will be a two part wedding blog, mostly because there are so many images that I want to share with you, and you, and you! First of all, Katelyn should be a wedding coordinator - she had all her details down to the capital T, including bringing her own bedding accessories for her hotel room, that of course matched the bridesmaids dresses. Seem over the top? Well no, it was her sweet details that brought everything together for their wedding.

The wedding of Tracy and Jason has been a long time in making. We first met December of 2009, where I met the couple, Tracy’s mom Debbie. They hired me on the spot and we photographed T+J’s engagement that same day. It was so much fun and everyone was so excited to work with each other, that I couldn’t believe I had to wait another year and a half to photograph their wedding. But you know what? Good things are worth the wait!

Family Portraits - Growing Families - Santa Rosa, Ca

It’s just been over a year since the wedding of Brian and Melissa, but since then they have added a new addition to their family - a sweet little girl. These images were taken at Melissa’s Parents house, who happen to have a preserved redwood grove in the middle of their backyard. I was lucky to be able to photograph the whole family together on a beautiful sunny day.

Here’s cute little Xander at six months old. Last time I photographed him, he was just this little ball of wrinkles … and now he’s looking more like a young boy. So sweet.

Thanksgiving Walk in the Woods

Thanksgiving Dinner at the Marshalls is always followed by a walk at dusk to Boggs Lake. However, upon arriving, you will see no lake, but rather an ocean of dried vegetation. Our purpose in walking, besides actually walking after dinner, is to watch these little black birds come in for their nights rest. They come in the 10’s of thousands. Yes, thousands. It’s a black sea of teeny-tiny black birds effortlessly dancing above the dried reeds. They form what looks dark clouds, expanding and contracting within every second. Sadly, the birds seemed to have moved on to another lake; we think it was probably too cold for them. Despite this, I’ve always wanted to bring my camera back to this beautiful spot. So, instead of photographing the birds, I photographed the weeds. Got to love the weeds.

Fall Family Portraits - Vineyard Wonderland - Wine Country, Ca

A few weekends ago, the only one where we were lucky to have gorgeous sunny weather, I photographed this lovely family of five out in the heart of the wine country. I had a great time photographing the three boys, and they must have had a good time too … at the end I received hugs and a kiss on the cheek!
